The JaguarForumsUK Newsletter (November 2022)

Welcome to our November 2022 Newsletter.

Welcome to our pre-Christmas newsletter with all the latest news regarding our event, our November competition winner, the Jaguar Breakfast Club, our first ever guest writer article, and loads more about how you can get involved with JaguarForumsUK.

Website slowdown issues

Some of you may have noticed our event website has become a little slower than usual, for which we apologise.

This is due to our website security dealing with an unusual increase in activity.

We are not too sure why, but since Black Friday we have been catering for up to forty times as many hacking attempts than usual. We are talking 100's of visitations by potential hackers per day currently.  But thankfully our security is holding up fine nonetheless.

Jaguar Breakfast Club News

Many people will remember, remember the 5th November as being a rather damp day for their bonfires, but Jaguar drivers will mark the day for the Breakfast Club gathering at the British Motor Museum where around 130 cars enjoyed a convivial morning in great company.

The message is, don’t let the weather put you off because these breakfast meetings are always well-attended regardless of the conditions!

The December event took place on Saturday 3rd and, looking forward to 2023, the British Motor Museum is the location for the winter meets all taking place on the first Saturday of the month. The Museum and café are open from 10am.

Forthcoming dates for your diary:
Saturday 6th January
Saturday 5th February
Saturday 5th March
Saturday 2nd April

The April 2023 gathering is scheduled to celebrate 10 years of the F-Type model and will be a bumper event where F-Types have pride of place in the display. If you have an F-Type please don’t miss the opportunity to share this memorable experience amongst friends.

Look out for further details of this special event over the coming months. Up-to-date information is always available on the dedicated website: www.jaguarbreakfastclub.org.uk

This months Guest writer is Gary Norris. Here is his article for this months newsletter...

I’d been working as a service engineer in the print industry in 1996 and was immediately mesmerised with the launch of the XK8, to the extent I had to immediately visit my local Jaguar showroom to take a closer look.

The visit only deepened my interest & desire in the model but I had to wait quite a few years until 2010 when I could actually get around to treating myself to my now ‘Pride & Joy’ immaculate XK8 that I have affectionally called ‘Blue’ and whom I intend to keep for a very long time, hopefully.

The vehicle condition was far from what I initially had wanted in an XK8.

So there began an 11-year affair to personally fully restore & rebuild nearly every part of the car in my home double garage, until its completion in May 2021, just in time for the 25th  anniversary celebrations for the XK8.

Then in July this year ‘Blue & I’ were chosen to both appear and perform as part of a sole ‘British car driving display team’ with 72 other vehicles to create the union flag in front of ‘Charles & Camilla’ in the centre of the stadium, at the opening ceremony for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Thankfully I managed to navigate through the demanding 50 ‘time-dependent’ driven rehearsal sequences in the Alexander Stadium & the final live broadcasted event on the BBC without encountering any contact injuries with my car ‘Blue’.

I’ve now decided to take early retirement this year from my career and as a consequence of losing  access to the company car, I’ve recently treated myself to my 2nd  Jaguar, that being a near mint condition (7th  Generation X356) 2006 XJR.

Thankfully I don’t have to spend a heap of time refurbishing the XJR, as I had done previously on the XK8, as the ‘meticulous previous owner’ had undertaken virtually every upgrade & improvement you’d have wished for on the car, before I became its new owner, happy days!

Photographs of your Jaguar - the perfect gift

We are proud to have Liam Gellett on the JaguarForumsUK Event Team, as our official event photographer.

Liams work is not only available in our online gallery but available to purchase too.

Photos make great gifts, and in purchasing you will also be helping us retain his services for next year.

Liam has released all his shots to us, to use in our new look Event Gallery giving you great access to his work online, and enabling you to see which image(s) you would like.

Did you know that we now have 100's of images from our events available on our website, easy to view individually, or as a slide show that runs in a browser on your computer or phone?

You can 'like' photo's, leave comments and so much more. So why not pop by, and leave comments against the photo's you especially love or pop up some details about YOUR Jaguar for everyone to see?

And any images you love, just drop a line to Liam and order a copy to own.

Finally, those of you who have followed us through the years will likely be aware that our 2022 event was our eleventh event, and our ninth year of running.

This means that our 2023 Great Day Out is our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY event!!

Places are going to be in demand and limited so we recommend booking early for this event.. don't forget if, closer to the time you find you cannot make the event you can always request a refund, or for your booking to be moved forward to the following event - this is our way of guaranteeing your booking and ensuring you don't lose out should your circumstances change.

We are looking for guest writers, maybe writing about your club, organisation, or maybe a Jaguar renovation you are working on. Please get in touch with us, we, and our membership would love to hear from you. If you can do this, you will receive full credit in our newsletters, and be a big part of the JaguarForumsUK story as we move forward.

Our event team is currently collating ideas on what we can do to make our 2023 event even more special for everyone so if you have any thoughts or ideas, or are happy to write for our Newsletter please email us at event.ideas@jaguarforumsuk.com and we will add them to the ideas we have so far.
