Further to Peters first book in the series, The Curved Road I was interested to see if the theme of scenic drives could possibly be expanded upon, encouraging me to find new sights, scenes, and gorgeous drives in my Jaguar XF, and I am pleased to say that not only has it earned a place on the bookshelf next to The Curved Road’, but it has actually encouraged me to not only revisit places I have been over the years, but also to look closer at my own locality.
At first look through the book, the photography is gorgeous, with Jaguars abound, but then when you start reading there is a large degree of personal knowledge included, sights and stops you may not have considered but in truth are breathtaking or steeped in history. Not only has Peter exhibited really good local knowledge on all his drives, but you not only have the gorgeous rich images to encourage you but also step by step route instructions as well as a map..
All of the routes in this book have been well researched, so you don’t have to, and even include local knowledge that some of us locals are unaware of prior to reading Peters book. His book is even the correct size to fit in your glovebox or door so it is easy to take with you, guiding you as you go.
Some of the routes in this, Peter’s latest book, can be combined with routes from his previous book, The Curved Road enabling you to have an extended drive, maybe with a stop over in a local B&B between sections.
I loved this book, it is applicable to anyone who enjoys driving, especially Jaguar owners 🙂
